The pressure to excel at work while managing relationships, health, home life, and personal growth can feel overwhelming. The phrase “work life balance” often seems like a motivational quote rather than an achievable reality. But balance is not about doing everything perfectly, it is about creating a life that supports your wellbeing, goals, and happiness, not just your productivity. Self-love and self-care are equally as important.

Whether you are climbing the career ladder, pivoting paths, or building a business, work life balance may be tough to find, and even harder to define At the same time, responsibilities outside of work expand, from caring for family to nurturing long term relationships or planning for the future. Without boundaries, burnout becomes the default.

So what can you do today?

Start by redefining balance as alignment. Are your daily actions aligned with what you value most? If your career matters, but so does your mental health, then both deserve time and energy. A great way to shift into alignment is to identify your top three priorities each week. Let those guide your schedule rather than reacting to everyone else’s demands.

Healthy boundaries are also essential. Women are often conditioned to be available, helpful, and agreeable even when it drains us. Practice saying no to tasks that do not align with your values. Protect time for rest, connection, and hobbies that recharge you. When you set boundaries, you reclaim energy and reduce stress.

Micro rituals throughout the day can help you stay grounded. Two minutes of breathing before meetings, a 10 minute midday stretch, or a screen free lunch break can keep your nervous system regulated. Balance is not created in one big moment, it is built through small supportive choices.

Remember that balance is personal and seasonal. What works during a busy season at work may look different during times of transition or healing. Give yourself permission to adjust.
Work life balance is real and achievable. When you honour your energy and choose what truly matters, you build a life that feels full, not chaotic.
