I wrote this poem years ago. I was in my mid 20s and struggling with my then-relationship, finances, and life in general. A friend suggested I get outside for some fresh air. That was the last thing I wanted to do. Luckily, I took my friend's advice. It was a warm and sunny day. For a moment, I forgot my worries and struggles. It is remarkable how healing writing can be. This poem came to me as I sat pondering my feelings, overlooking the lily pads.
Nature's Symposium
Transitional psychology
Is a type of pathology
No consequential diagnosis
But too much wonder in the mind
No forehead hits against its’ wall at will
Against the those, that, them and some others
Torturous malevolence against one’s will erupts
Oops, hit a wall again
Take no pity, take no pride
Take nothing and yet still somehow survive
Wonder how fair life fares for those
Not like you or I, or them, that and those
Take pleasure in my dispute
For forgiveness I’ll wilfully exude
No woman I am without my being true
Of wholeness I seek within me
Take no triumph to heart
Try no sorrow for bed
All those around you, they might shatter
Their own hearts, not yours, not mine
See, the clearer you and I were
Meant to redefine
Amidst the illusions of others
And their tortured old minds
My reality not to be defined by anyone
So true to my soul, my spirit speaks to me
I could live forever
Here by the lily pads
