A Poem on Personal Growth

To Grow in Time

The tree of my life, a mystery to me

My branches haven't all yet grown

I've got to go through these growing pains

But wouldn't I already know?

I'm beautiful the way I grow

I look at myself

Just then a new leaf grows

I swiftly evolve, I change

I look again and an old leaf falls off

It serves me no more

An inspiration of strength I may be to myself

In those moments, the high winds

Of those minutes of high tides within

I do not drown, my roots instead grow deeper and stronger within me

Doubt not my process of recovery

Only time keepers get to see my final tapestry

But the beauty of my tapestry today is mine, to be free to be me

My budding branches give me hope

Extend, extend

I feel the growing pains within every part of me

It is all okay, it is all alright

I deserve this growth just for me

I am deserving of love for my inner child

I will celebrate me today for no reason at all

Just for me

Only then may I be free to grow in my own time

I shall always be free to grow in time
